Jesus Knew, But Judas Ate Too.

Think about this for a second. Jesus knew.

John 13:1-5
He goes into that room with His disciples. He knows He is going to be betrayed. He knows it is Judas who will turn against him. He knows that He has been sold out for a handful of silver. Stabbed in the back by one He has poured His life into.

Yet, in that room, hours before the death of Jesus, Judas ate too. Jesus fed Judas too. Jesus prayed for Judas too. Jesus washed Judas’ feet too. I struggle to fathom that kind of love. A love that would feed the mouth that deceived you. A love that would wash the treasonous feet of the traitor. A love that could forgive even the vilest of betrayals.

Abraham, our father of faith, lied.
Noah was a drunk.
Moses murdered his Egyptian Oppressor.
Miriam was a gossiper.
Elijah, one of the greatest prophets, was a suicidal.
Sarah was impatient.
Samson broke his covenant with God for some girl.
Gideon was consistency fearful.
David had an affair.
Jacob lied, over and over again.
Rahab was a prostitute.
Jonah rebelled against God’s call.
The Samaritan woman was divorced and still sleeping around.
Zacchaeus stole tons of money from people.
Martha worried—a lot!
Paul killed Christians.

Thomas was a Doubter.
Peter had a temper.
And even all the original disciples – they were all different flavors of dysfunctional.

And yes! We all struggle.
We all fall.
We all make mistakes.
We all fail.
Because we are all merely human.

I wanted to remind you this day
that you are not the only one who's grappling
with the feelings of deficiency, dysfunctional,
failure and the reality of sin.

But one thing for sure is true –
Nothing and no one can separate you
from the love of Christ.
No matter how low you may feel,
Jesus can forgive you, embrace you,
revive you, redeem you, heal you,
restore you and love you,
and even use you for His glory.

JUDAS ISCARIOT

We might look at the bad things people did in scripture-like Cain killing his brother Abel or David committing adultery with Bathsheba or Peter denying he knew Jesus and think to ourselves, “I would never do such a thing”. This definitely holds true when it comes to what Judas did. Judas-the one who betrayed Jesus. He’s probably the most notorious figure in history

Romans 8:38‭-‬39
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I honestly struggle to comprehend it. And then, suddenly, I realize that I’m Judas. And in that moment, I’m so thankful & altogether overwhelmed that Judas ate too.
